Welcome to the 2012 Blackall Heartland Festival Calender of Events.  Our festival is all about showing off our natural assets here in Central Western Qld and for us that means our arts and culture mixed in with amazing landscapes, great people and sense of community, amazing beef and lamb production and a strong sense that Blackall is the centre for the Arts within our region.  Hope you can join us somewhere throughout our 10 day event. We are always on the lookout for some new friends to the outback.

All Events on the calender have a Red Meat Menu and Showcase our local producers and the quality product that comes from our Central Western Qld Region. Art and Food are always a great combination.

We would like to thank in advance Andrew and Maree King from Silverwood Organics and Ashley Adams with TendaBeef.  Please support their product.

Pop Up Museum - Blackall Heartland Festival has been working with the Qld Museum for Blackall and Tambo to take part in a project entitled "What do you Collect"  www.whatdoyoucollect.com.au  The photos and stories of the collectors are on the website and stills will be showcased in a pop up museum in the medium strip of the town of Blackall. We will be collecting these until the start of the festival.  The committee has also been working on a concept of a whole community collection.  So we have decided to go with hats!  Hats will be collected and shown with a piece of text to accompany the hat and state why this hat has significance in this person's life.  It could be the good old farm hat or perhaps a jockey's cap or painter's hat.  Any hat will do.  Contact Lavina Anderson in Blackall 46575030 or Alison Shaw in Tambo 46216 600 if you would like to participate.

Adriaan Vanderlught will be the artist in residence for a six week period, part of which will be during the Blackall Heartland Festival.  Adriaan and Denice Vanderlught have been commissioned for this.  While living at the centre, they wil tutor workshops in hebel sculpture and patchwork, basket weaving in Blackall and Tambo.  Adriaan will also produce a piece of Public Art in the form of a new sign for the entrance to the Living Arts Centre.  Another of his duties will be feature artist and judge of the Blackall Heartland Festival Art Exhibition and competition.
